Job Summary:
To provide technical analyst II support for an exposure assessment as specified in the tasks detailed below to include travel to specified sites to collect air, wipe, and urine samples, to record supporting documentation, to compile summary descriptions of processes and sampling, and as needed to assemble data, compile data sets, and prepare summary reports.

Scope of Work:

  1. The Company is conducting occupational exposure studies at various workplaces for specific agents (two-dimensional nano-particles and Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)) or of various chemical and physical agents at specific work places (structural firefighting, wild-land firefighting, and nail salons). Exposure assessment support includes site visits to company facilities to conduct walk-through surveys, to recruit study participants and to conduct exposure sampling. The purpose of these efforts is to document exposures and to identify work practices and processes that affect exposure. When not conducting site visits to companies, the technical analyst will be calling potential work sites, writing reports, or manipulating data for analysis. 
  2. The work methods and timing of the work schedule and tasks shall be performed as directed by the Technical Monitor and in coordination with other personnel working on the project. The technical analyst shall address comments from the Technical Monitor as the work proceeds. All project data files shall be retained on the Company's computer system, maintained current during the period of the task, finalized at the completion of the task and available for review by the Technical Monitor as requested. Appropriate documentation of work shall be maintained.
  3. Required to have ability to travel to study sites for this project.  During company visits, the technical analyst may need to work day, evening or night shifts, and possibly for durations longer than 8 hrs. Travel is on average one week per month.
  4. Required travel includes round trips from duty station to site locations for data collection, as deemed necessary by project officers.
  5. Performance of site visits may require the technical analyst to wear a respirator (therefore, he/she must be medically cleared), and steel toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protectors will be provided. Technical analyst will take training on blood borne pathogens, hearing protection, and respirator use. Also, the technical analyst must be able to physically lift and carry equipment cases and safely work at construction sites (e.g., climbing ladders). 
  6. All data obtained and produced under this contract are the property of the Company and all original copies of the data and reports will be returned to the company. Any copies made by the Contractor shall be destroyed at the end of the period of performance.
  7. The technical analyst may be required to sign company non-disclosure agreements to protect proprietary information.

Minimum Requirements

  • MS in occupational health, industrial hygiene or related field.  Alternately, a BS degree in occupational health, industrial hygiene or related discipline with at least 5 years experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in exposure assessment monitoring and data evaluation for industrial environments.
  • Research experience is desirable.
  • Ability to travel to test sites.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated exceptional planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a professional group.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a local NIOSH Security Clearance.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.

Anticipated Travel

Travel required to location of field studies.  Travel to be reimbursed per Federal Travel Regulations.
