RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Fire Protection Engineer 2 located in Aiken, SC. This is a Direct Hire permanent position.

Job Summary:

Our Client is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer II.  Location to be one of the following:  Aiken, SC or Oak Ridge, TN or Richland, WA office

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data.
  • Maintains liaison with design and drafting groups.
  • Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.
  • Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
  • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.
  • Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project.
  • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.
  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.
  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.
  • Performs material take-offs for the discipline.
  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.
  • Has basic knowledge of business development concepts and methods and provides support to proposals as required.
  • Familiar with codes, permits and company cornerstone applications.
  • Familiar with the work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within engineer`s discipline.
  • Can read and understand construction drawings.
  • Performs material take offs for a specific discipline.
  • Can fully integrate construct-ability concerns into engineering solutions.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Additional Information:Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and background.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor`s degree or Master`s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university.
  • 1+ years of experience required. 
  • Must be capable of applying Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical problems.
  • Familiar with NFPA codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities.
  • Acquainted with development and implementation of fire protection programs, fire protection systems support including minor design modifications or recommendations.
  • Able to provide Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multi-million dollar one of a kind projects.
  • Knowledgeable in computer modeling of fire, egress or other fire related or influenced phenomena.
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q clearance and access to Commercial Nuclear Facilities.
  • Candidate must be able to travel on business as needed.
  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen only. Dual Citizenship will not be accepted for this position.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • FE (EIT) certificate preferred
  • Master`s in Fire Protection
  • Familiar with preparation of written fire protection analyses.
