RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Fire Protection Engineer 5 located in Aiken, SC. This is a Direct Hire permanent position.

Job Summary:

Our Client is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer 5  to be based in our Aiken, SC; Oak Ridge, TN; or Richland, WA location. The Engineer is responsible for perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks independently.
  • Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews.
  • Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects.
  • May provide training to less experienced engineers.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  • Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Additional Information:Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and background.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor`s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Must be capable of applying Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical problems.
  • Familiar with NFPA codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities.
  • Acquainted with development and implementation of fire protection programs, fire protection systems support including minor design modifications or recommendations.
  • Able to provide Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multi-million dollar one of a kind projects.
  • Knowledgeable in computer modeling of fire, egress or other fire related or influenced phenomena.
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q clearance and access to Commercial Nuclear Facilities.
  • Candidate must be able to travel on business as needed.
  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen only. Dual Citizenship will not be accepted for this position. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's in Fire Protection
  • Familiar with preparation of written fire protection analyses.
