RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Sr. Drafter/Designer local to the Warrenville, IL area.  This is a contract assignment with expectations that the assignment will develop into a direct hire position within 6 months.  RCS offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays. Our client is seeking outgoing, self-motivated individuals looking for a company where they can continue to grow their skill set!

Why We Need You
This position is responsible for reviewing project specifications; conferring with customer and engineers concerning assistance required to collect data and develop projects from initial stages to final engineered pipeline projects.  Tasks include preparing plans, evaluating of field conditions, field verification, design changes, and reports, including client revenue and cost projections.  Designers survey project sites to obtain and analyze topographical details of sites, using maps and surveying equipment. Drafts detailed dimensional drawings including at times two-line and 3D drawings as required for completion of gas pipeline and associated projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Constructing dimensional relationships of one part to another and a relationship of various parts to entire project, utilizing knowledge of engineering practices and mathematics.
  • Creating a preliminary and/or final sketch of proposed drawing, using computer-assisted design/drafting equipment.
  • Modifying drawings as directed by engineer or design coordinator
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary.


  • Local candidates are required as expenses/per diem is not approved for this assignment.
  • Strong working knowledge of CADWORX. 
  • An Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) in Design and Drafting Technology.
  • Heavy experience (+5 years preferred) in Transmission preferred
  • Electrical Utility or Piping Experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic with desire to work in a production environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation, which will be used for driving to/from field locations.
  • Authorization to work in the US without restriction.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm.
  • Must also be able to work at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours).
  • Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
